Dear Editor
At the eThekwini Municipality's full Council Meeting that was held on the 27 September 2011, I would like to place on record that the notice of motion from the Minority Front for women empowerment has been passed.
This means that all women in Durban will be able to acquire knowledge on how to tender for municipal contracts. The motion has also stipulated that an extensive program will be carried out for them to receive development skills.
I would personally like to thank all councillors that supported this motion. Now it shows that women will have an equal chance to be good entrepreneurs and this motion will help young women who have come from previously disadvantage backgrounds to grow and achieve success.
As a young female Councillor in the municipality, I, myself know the challenges the women of Durban are faced with that's why this motion was placed on the council agenda. This is a victory to all women of Durban especially with the rate of unemployment so high. As women, we must all stand together and stand tall so we can fight battles that diminish us. Now that the motion has been passed, its beneficial in a million ways.
So I would like to take this opportunity to encourage the women in Durban to take full advantage of this as it will benefit you and this will definitely encourage you in becoming Dynamic business women.
Kind Regards
Cllr Lyndal Singh
